Now that I know the story, there's no need to watch it again.Ĭhance of watching a sequel: High. But if you like the theme, you might rewatch Meander for multiple times.Ĭhance of watching it again: I don't think so. I think it's mostly the surprise of the story that makes you feel interested. Meander is a watchable film, enjoyable for a select audience.Įnjoyment: Good (2+ out of 3 points). Meander is an interesting survival horror, I think some fans of the genre might enjoy it. I especially liked the score for the credits, if the music was similar during the movie itself, I was distracted by the action on screen. The cinematography is okay, I think they got the maximum out of the situation.Īlthough there are only two main characters, we don't really get to know them. The story is good, there are some interesting twists, although dramatically it's far from perfect. The Meander movie is about a woman abducted to be trapped in a strange place. I didn't watch the trailer, and I didn't remember any specific from the review. However, when I had the chance to actually watch the film, I decided I'll give it a try. I've first heard about Meander, when I've read a review about the movie, that made it look like it's another Cube / Saw clone. * * * Review (spoiler-free) - Meander, movie (2020) It basically provides a summary of the film, up to the ending scene, it's only some twists at the very end we are not shown. Doomy at its core, it also flirts with other styles. This was a short EP that was a bit difficult to give an overall rating to, but I sense that the band’s genre-bending style is something that they can develop for their next album. It plods away with a Doomy sound but also flirts with more accessible elements along the way. Again, their combination of several styles here is fascinating. “Anchors Aweigh” is a longer track that opens with slow and heavy accents. Pop sensibilities combine well with the tight instrumentation. This song has an intriguing combination of Hardcore and Post Metal elements, and is really unlike the other three. “Start a Fire” begins with a much faster moving pace and some vocal harmonies. The song grooves on some sad tones throughout. The vocals are clean and solemn, with meaty bass notes in support. “Restless Glow” is a shorter song that begins with some melodies, though they are melancholy in nature. The heavier elements are absolutely earth shattering. The constant push and pull of both styles here keeps the listener on his toes. The bass guitar begins to chug away followed by a chaotic passage. The vocals are clean and dreamy at first, but segue into harsh offering with a wicked edge. It’s a slow moving song with a simple, but solemn opening riff. Throughout lengthy compositions wherein their voices intertwine, they create an incandescent magma of Post-Rock, Hardcore and Progressive Metal that is as intense and complex as it is melodic.” The album contains four songs. “Formed in 2017 when three guys from Brussels, Belgium got together to play loud and cathartic music. From Brussels, Belgium, comes trio MEANDER.
